Haha what is this argument about. The precip is getting brutalized on the straight. Tumble-dust is all we are getting today.

The snow became very fine and melty earlier in the afternoon, but it's picked up again now.

Tumble dust mixed with some fine asbestos dust.

18z GFS looks kinda rough. Monday is looking like rain. Thoughts on things trending cooler and enjoying some snow shots next week instead? Anyone?

The track that system takes at day 9.5/10 looks similar to Dec 19, 2017 or Dec 21, 2020. More of a S/N direction rather than SW/NE, but still similar.

Are we looking at the same 18Z GFS? Looking like a quick transition to rain. Are you interpreting things differently or are we looking at light asbestos?

Saturday has the potential to be a doozy for metro van. I wouldn't focus on Monday yet.

Perhaps the #teamNITO breakup wasn't amicable.

...Rain?

Upper level and surface flow never really turn southerly. So I could see the GFS keeping it mostly snow until precip ends.

Let's make bets on environment canada's move for Friday for the south island:

1) Winter storm watch -> warning
2) Snowfall warning
3) Blizzard warning

I'll bet on #1 because I expect to have some wind associated with a low this deep, but it could very well be a snowfall warning.

18z gfs temps at YVR/YXX.

Tomorrow AM: -7c/-13c
Tomorrow PM: -2c/-7c
Friday AM: -8c/-14c
Friday PM: -3c/-6c

Probably too aggressive with flooding that cold air into the valley, but we'll see.
