Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
That same resilient Low seems to be tapping into more Pacific Ocean moisture now. What is going on here Nito?? Will this Low continue on its life and stay semi stationary, pumping moisture into the area? Whoa.
This may drop larger amounts of snow to the SE Island area.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
I wouldn't be surprised with 25+ cm in Vancouver and 40+ cm in Victoria from this one. Really nice, high potential setup.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 1:42 pm Yeah, this one looks to be improved for them at this point.
I think models were a bit overzealous with outflow limiting snow in metro van prior to the Dec 21/08 storm (similar to this one at the moment). YVR still ended up picking up 28cm with the event, including a one day total of 22cm.

I edited my earlier post and added a map showing what the WRF looked like just a day prior to the Dec 20-21 event. I think we're in for a big one again.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Looks like it underdid the totals here. I think it's doing the same thing this time (currently only showing 2 inches for vancouver, 8 inches for Victoria).

I think “tantalize,†“disappointment,†or “frustation†are more appropriate words of the day.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
18Z GFS has developed the main low and making landfall near Forks. Energy looks to be splitting but still gives a quick 5-10cm over Western LM. Van Island gets buried. Can see near 40cm.

Really worried about that trend. If it continues we could have a strong cut back even on the island in amounts.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 1:57 pm 18Z GFS has developed the main low and making landfall near Forks. This run looks to be an improvement over the last couple. We're slowly getting there.Esquimalt39 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 1:58 pm Really worried about that trend. If it continues we could have a strong cut back even on the island in amounts.
