Looks like EC is going with 40-60 with gusts of up to 80km/h tomorrow in southern sections.

I would think an outflow warning is coming soon for you.

Keep on eye on that Friday system. Still a few days for the track to change.

Not sure if it means much but it looks like the 18z nam has a bit more moisture with the front.

The path the Saturday low takes on the Euro looks eerily similar to the Dec 21st, 2008 snowstorm if you remember that one.
What were the accumulations? Uniformly distributed around the South Island? I seem to recall the airport getting more than the view royal area but I can’t find records to corroborate.

Based on the 12z GFS... I'd say expect gusts 60-80km/hr tomorrow and 70-90km/hr Thursday into early Friday. Could be locally even stronger if these maps are correct.

Guesstimating here but I'd say 25-50cm over 48hrs across the south island.

Storm total was 49cm at YYJ from the evening of the 20th thru the morning of the 22nd. 36cm one day total on the 21st.

There's lots of stations on the south island but not many with snowfall data unfortunately.

Looks like "Victoria Highland" had a storm total of 41cm on the 21st/22nd. "Victoria Francis Park" recorded 20cm on the 21st, with no data available for the 20th/22nd.

Those are both high terrain areas. I remember at least 40 cm on the ground though at my place (I was only 7 then)

Looks like the Thursday system has trended North on the 18z NAM.

So, the forecast high today is +1C... currently I'm at -1.6C. Seems probable that it doesn't go above freezing here. Always a nice sign when it's colder than forecast. Would love to see it dip to -14C in the coming days (my station record is -13.1C), but that seems a bit unlikely.

My mind went there as well. 40cm of snow in these parts, YYJ included. With blizzard warnings on parts of Vancouver Island that night.
North end of Shawnigan Lake. Southern Vancouver island. 500ft
