The trick is to do it without getting all bent out of shape when things don’t go your way.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 8:27 am It will be what it is. I gave up on model riding some years ago. Simply leads to disappointment more often than not, so why do it?
If February ends up being a dud, I will look forward to camping again.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
I moved to Whatcom County in part because it's easier to score good Fraser outflow here. Worked well last winter… got good and cold here but barely cold enough to snow in Seattle and Portland basically missed out entirely. This year, so far, nothing. Disappointment. So it goes.
My model riding start was in 2008, which was a bad introduction, because it got me hooked, after seeing how that epic cold/snowy stretch got modeled waaaaay in advance. Ever since then, however, was lesson after lesson in how often the rug gets pulled on clown-range arctic blasts. Eventually I gave up. Wasted too much time being emotionally invested, however. Hence my signature tagline.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Yup. It took having kids for me to figure that part out though. Now life is too busy to be upset about a rug pull.

Not sure I'd call that eye popping but its not bad.
Edit: its actually eye poppingly bad if you want cold in the long range. But its clown range right?

Clear cold sunny days! Perfect!
Nobody should complain about this. Days are getting longer as well...Having daylight at 6pm last week made me crave it more.
I am hoping to go on regular runs again. Running in the rain sucks

This looks familiar. It’s the last forecast for February!

I'll do with some sun. But we both know that that's only one option available and once we accept sunshine and 12C we will very possibly lose that as well.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 9:27 am Clear cold sunny days! Perfect!

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
I'm still not buying this model collapse.
Makes no sense we don't score something good in a phase 7 MJO.
Apart from minor changes to the timing, the EPS remains consistent.
At this point I'd still expect other models to cave to it.
While I could be wrong, I still trust the EPS.
