Tempest Weather Station

Post by ClaytonWx »

Has anyone bought or considered buying one of these Tempest Weather Stations?
https://weatherflow.com/tempest-weather-system/

I noticed it back when they were doing a Kickstarter campaign but didn't pull the trigger. Looks like a really sleek, smart setup.

There is a worldwide map of all the stations with access to live data. There are quite a few already in the lower mainland:

Moving this thread to the Personal Weather Station section of the forum. https://forums.bcstorms.ca/viewforum.php?f=191

First I've heard about this one, but it looks pretty interesting. I'd be a bit skeptical of the rainfall accuracy, but you could have a backup manual gauge for that. I would also question how robust the radiation shield is.

Sure looks cool!
That map is fake. Those are not all those stations for sure. That data is being shared or lifted from other products.

This does look cool. I’m in the market for a weather station at the moment.

If you're looking for good quality and accuracy -> Davis Vantage Pro 2. ;)

BTW, yup, my fan is bad. It's ridiculous that it costs 100 dollar for a new fan that you can probably buy for $5 without the housing! I've read that others have solved this issue by siliconing in a $5 fan into the housing, and it worked. I'm considering just hard-wiring in a fan that skips he batteries and solar panel since i already have power at my station.

Yup, that's what I did. Removing the old one is a PITA, but otherwise fairly simple.

Agree some of those stations are Ecowitt or at least one is in east Abby.
