Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Wind is really ramping up in Greater Victoria and should reach borderline warning criteria. No warnings yet though.
2.3C here, with a rare E wind even filtering into the shawnigan Lake area now.
I did receive a small accumulation of wet snow overnight.

If you are lucky you might eek out a trace.
If you gather all of it, you may even have enough for a snowball.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Very possible but the good news is that we are still 2 weeks out. Still plenty of time for the models to shift colder for the PNW.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 9:31 am The Feb outlook may bust. GFS has slowly trended towards a West Coast Ridge. Should have taken that ECMWF run more seriously.
I should add that the GFS did not slowly trend towards a West Coast Ridge. The past two runs were actually a complete flip from the runs prior to that, which showed arctic air. Looks to me like a sudden collapse, not a slow trend.
I still think this will work out in our favour despite the sudden GFS collapse. But I may have to refine my forecast if trends keep going in this direction.
Think arctic air and snow C'MON!!!

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
For the past 30 years, in no order I'd say '90-91, '92-93, '96-97, '08-09 and '16-17.
Edit: If we go back 40 years, I'd also possibly include '84-85, '85-86 or '88-89.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Sun is peaking through with some blue sky but still some flurries happeneing and now a bit of outflow winds. Snow we got last night is still on trees slowly melting now but not as quickly as it did the other day. Why is is that Squamish stays colder than Vancouver? Legit question I honestly dont know why?

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
My guess would be the outflow and inland/sheltered, more protected location? I could be wrong though.Wintergirl wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 11:50 am Sun is peaking through with some blue sky but still some flurries happeneing and now a bit of outflow winds.
