Hopefully this won’t turn out to be another snowFAIL warning.

About the same here. Looked like the snow was picking up a few minutes ago, but back to light snow.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Port Hardy's temp fell through the night and they've turned from rain to a mix. There is cooler air to the NW.

Looks like mostly rain across Metro Vancouver on the 12z NAM today. 0cm to trace amounts, except for those at higher elevations (100m+).

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Clouds are lowering around my mountain which is actually a good sign for increasing precipitation intensity in the near future. At least that’s what I’ve always found since moving here. Daylight is breaking. Seems I have a cm or two.
Burnaby Mountain @ 365 m..
Stats? Fresh out of those. But I win anyway. I got all the inches.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Yesterday, some mesoscale models were hinting at a steady band of light snow setting up from Boundary Bay northwards, North Delta seems to be in that band. Still snowing lightly.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Obviously boils down to precip intensity today.
You can see the low intensifying off the coast. This will lead to a changeover from rain to snow on E Vancouver Island by mid-morning. Where this low tracks will determine the Lower Mainlands chances. The initial front completely fizzled out hence lighter precip and rain.
