Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
There's a decent amount of rain after the initial surge. So its not like we would be sitting on a nice 12" snowpack. Lots of slush and mud. But to be clear its still going to be fun and scores better than winter up to this point.

384 hr snow maps should be used for entertainment purposes only.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 7:34 am It becomes less impressive once you realize that’s cumulative snow from now until hour 384 (16 days).
They shouldn't even bother wasting computing power to run those maps.

Lots of cold onshore flow shown on the 12z GFS. Multiple snow chances.

A ton of cold in the central interior and Yukon in the long range on the 12z gfs. Just need a mechanism to draw it down here.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Very curious what the first week of Feb will look like as we get closer. Imagine we build a bit of a snowpack and then get a true arctic blast...

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
That can be an issue with cold onshore flow setups. Once the low passes, it stops drawing in the cold and we warm a bit. But models are usually quick to warm us up and it's still days away, so no need to worry yet. Trends are looking better for us again.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
That pattern would really pile up the snow in places with a bit of elevation.
I think Pomoman would be very happy with that setup.
