This place is essentially sounding exactly like the American forum. Sadly.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
12z wasn't a good run for those wanting crazy cold, however it was a decent run for those wanting snow.
I didn't mind it.

Me 2. Don’t need crazy cold. Just cold enough for snowing, that’s perfect!

12Z keeps us chilly with a chance of snow for a week. I will take it!
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!

I liked it better than the 6Z. Blocking configuration looks more sustainable. FWIW. GEM looked pretty good. I have a good feeling about something around day 8-9

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Models have yet another burst of warming in the stratosphere around the time of the pattern change. This could very easily be causing the chaotic flip flopping we are seeing in the long range.
I think in general, another Polar Vortex disruption would end up going in our favour. The longer we can keep the vortex weak the better.
But it does make predictability in the long range nearly impossible.

Ensembles still running but it looks like the OP is on the high side of the mean.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Honestly, cold onshore flow with low snow levels followed by arctic air in early February would be fine by me. I'd take that in an instant.
