Re: Sports Talk
Meh. Canada is still better. That American team has the advantage of playing together all year in the USHL. With Dach we win this. I'm more interested these days in having more competition with countries like Germany, Switzerland, Denmark. Domination makes me bored and skip most 9f the tourny.

Re: Sports Talk
St. Louis' previous 3 finals appearances were rigged in their favour of getting to the finals. The NHL doubled in size in 1968, putting all 6 expansion teams in the same division. Therefore, all you needed to do to make the finals was be the best of the expansion teams, which they were for 3 years. St. Louis was far better than the other lowly expansion teams because they had some awesome rugged defencemen along with Scotty Bowman as coach. They additionally had perhaps the best 1-2 punch in goal in NHL history with Glenn Hall and Jacques Plante. Plante put up a .950 save percentage in the playoffs despite the losing effort.
But despite that they got absolutely killed in the finals to Original Six Canadiens or Bruins 4 games to 0 all three years because they were weak on forward talent.

Re: Sports Talk
67-68... technically it was doubled in the fall of 67, but the finals were played in 68.
P.S. interesting how the Leafs can't win a cup when their odds of winning are less than 1 in 6.

Re: Sports Talk
Stink stank stunk, what a time for the Seahawks to have their worst game of the season , their improving defense should've done better against an injured QB with no passing game. Oh well
It's finally time to focus on some hockey , covid weather permitting , looks like Hoglander could very well be on the roster on opening night, so that's at least one rookie to whet our appetite, and maybe Juolevi and/or Rathbone also to keep things interesting . With the tight schedule, albeit shortened schedule, playing 3-4 games a week will mean survival of the fittest and healthiest, teams with good depth will play an important role this year ,maybe more than ever.

Re: Sports Talk
I am so ready for the season. Maybe our most exciting young lineup in team history other than say 2009. But this teams core is younger.Forrest Gump wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 8:18 pm Stink stank stunk, what a time for the Seahawks to have their worst game of the season , their improving defense should've done better against an injured QB with no passing game. Canucks are coming up on their 50th season in a row without winning the Cup.
Toronto is set to set to tie the Ranger's at 53 seasons.
