Also consider this is now hour 198. The timing is moving up quite nicely.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
The GFS operational runs are useless right now. No run to run consistency whatsoever. Just random solutions. Best to go with Ensembles for now.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Decent.
SE ridge needs more amplification though and the GOA ridge seems like it may disconnect from the high latitude block there.

Ridge merger with the Hudson block? This would lock it in for a bit.

Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Yeah, that was a possibility. Still holding on at hour 240, but the trend for the block to inch westward is a bit concerning.
However, at worst, this turns into a COLD onshore flow type pattern and I think most would be okay with that.

What's causing the westward drift of the block?wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 3:25 pm Ridge merger with the Hudson block? This would lock it in for a bit.

That's the same one I have. I find the personalized, local weather reporting it does is about equal to throwing darts at a board labeled with weather options, but it does get it right every now and then.

Actually, a lot more cold air available nearby on the 18z vs 12z.
