Not extreme cold but a nice 500mb configuration for snow.
North end of Shawnigan Lake. Southern Vancouver island. 500ft

Looking at the satellite to our SW this morning it certainly looks like an environment favourable for a low pressure center to develop quickly. 12Z ICON moved towards the last couple euro runs with a deepening low approaching southern Vancouver island this evening. Looks too far south for a big windstorm but still worth watching

Took me a minute to realize this was Kamloops. I’m pretty sure most places on the coast have already seen January warm past December’s temperatures

Takes a little longer to get there but the 12z gfs looks like it’s going to deliver yugely in the long range
