Running a bit milder though. However, its still a very good run. But I hope this isn't going to turn into a trend.

Looks like the long range is trending more towards a skinny/amplified Alaskan/Yukon block rather than a broad/amplified NPAC block.

Extreme cold into BC would be muted but it's still a good setup at face value nonetheless. Leagues better than anything we've seen thus far this winter.

The 00z EPS, while not as good as the 12z, is still a very good run. We were on a streak there where every run was improving and that streak was bound to break. There will be wobbles in the details as this unfolds and that is normal. We are in a good place.

Yeah, absolutely. The Op runs in 3-4 days will be telling.

Do you think it would be better than what we've seen in recent years even without the broad/amplified NPAC block?

Abbotsford had a mean temp of -10.6C on January 14th last year. It would be unlikely we see something colder than that.

In 10-15 days that will read 25cm of snow. ;)

Highs were impressively cold during the cold snap last January. Don't think we'll see anything colder than that either.

Wouldn't take much to see lower mins though; YVR only dropped to -8c.

Too far out at the moment to be sure of that.

Last week of the month will turn chilly for sure (like Jan 02 or 08), but an arctic blast is still very much up in the air.

Too much going on in the models, yes maybe no who knows, took a break this evening.
The 7th annual snowfall contest is canceled due to no snow this winter.
