That Tuesday night system is all over the place in the models. Some show absolutely nothing. Euro and gfs have cold rain and low snow levels. Ukmet has a 983mb low crossing central Vancouver island. Big wind potential with that scenario. And this is less than 72hrs out.
Last night the RGEM had a hurricane force windstorm with a 120 km/h gust modelled for Abbotsford.

Would you classify January 96 an epic event or merely a good one? I don't know much about it but I have read about the ice storm that ended it.
This is what transpired at YVR during that month. From Environment Canada.

I find it strange that you can have 31 cm fall and the max depth is only 3 cm.
Temps above freezing with wet snow and rain right next to the water.
If you check other weather stations in the area, you'll see it got cooler and snowier as you progress further east. Snow depth at lower elevations of coquitlam peaked at 20cm for example.
If you remember way back in the day, Weatherpro used to broadcast his webcam and thermometer online from the corner of Grandview and Renfrew. At that time when Nito was still known as nito, Nito lived in Surrey, before moving to New West. I used to know Weatherpros real first name but have now forgotten. He moved to Edmonton for some weather related job, but he left his family in Vancouver. At one point Weatherpro launched his own forum with his own forecasts that you could ask him for if you were willing to donate or something. Of course, it didn't work out. Now he only pays us a visit when it seems worth it. The legend continues...

I remember this. I believe he said he got a job with Environment Canada.

I remember calling him crazy with his 2012 forecast of 75cm in Abbotsford....then it ended up verifying.
