May be a blessing in disguise. The snow up there is dense with compaction and snow cornices. Lots of freezing and thawing so far and a large snowpack over whats fallen may lead to a ton of avalanches.
Unfortunately people are going into the back country to escape the crowds which may actually heighten danger.

Good points. I wouldn't touch the North shore mountains this year with a 10 foot ski poll anyways.

Light E Wind as well. Only fly in the oinment is the upper level warth. I see freezing rain....
I could see the east valley getting some light snow and freezing rain tomorrow. I think Abby west is probably more likely for brief patchy freezing rain before all rain. Not much outflow and the upper levels are warm.

We have an interesting situation forming right now. We could see some surprises over the next few days on higher elevations and eastward into the Valley.
Temps have been cooler than forecast especially in the Valley. We have not hit the highs that were forecast.
There is a nice cold pool of air seeping out of the interior.
Rain is forecast, but I'm seeing things starting off as snow and mixed rain and snow, especially eastward.
There could be freezing rain in Chilliwack and Hope but it could just as easily be snow depending how the upper air manages to push out the cold pool of air.
Vancouver Island will see snow only on the mountain tops this time unfortunately, no low level snow.
The next 2 days of showers could produce some flurries. As we get to the end of the week, colder air will seep into the Lower Mainland and flurries will most likely be seen even down to sea level. No snow storm yet in view, but weather is trending more wintery finally.
For now, watch for some surprises that may pop up. I feel some of you will see some more snow at the front end of the next system on Friday.

Really nice morning. Moderately negative PNA in the long range but no favorable blocking. Ssw continues to get pushed back. If we are waiting on that for an arctic blast then IMO February it is.

After seeing those news clips on global about the crowded slopes,how do people consider that fun I'll never know, and certainly not getting your money's worth if you only get a few runs in, even whistler looked quite busy. Oh well,I haven't skied for many years anyways, used to like skiing backwards on the Cut run on Grouse.
Just had to rush my dog to emergency. Hit by a car on 92nd ave. She was dazed and confused and in a lot of pain. Luckily no internal bleeding and lungs are ok, but the doctor is a little worried about her lack of movement. I absolutely cannot believe this is how this year is going to end.
