The 7th annual snowfall contest is canceled due to no snow this winter.

Its not quite the right set up but this run is quite an improvement. Probably an outlier but who knows.

I think that is true for Langdale to Port Mellon. They get more weather down there.

I have to say, it sure is nice out even with the minimal amounts of snow we received.

It was really nice going for an evening walk with the snow, freezing temps and Christmas lights. It actually feels like winter out. Makes this Christmas a bit better considering how different it is going to be.

Ensembles just aren't even close. Control run is nice at least. Bah. Enjoy the snow and cold temps people.

'84-85 was a pretty sweet winter though. Snow on the ground from early-mid December through mid-late Jan. Not many warmups and early-mid February was pretty snowy too. A lot like '16-17.
And there was a SSW event in December 1984 if I recall correctly.

Not saying you are wrong though (pesky Greenland block might screw us hard).
The Greenland block did not cause any issues for us in the December 1968 arctic blast. Here is the 500 mb pattern for December 28, 1968. Abbotsford recorded a high of -16.7 and low of -18.3C.
