Models are bringing cold pool air late Mon and Tues before a mild system arrives Wednesday.

and from what I can see with the pivotal maps...it's no more...Guess the models see a slight onshore push ahead of the initial band.

The GFS was pretty for skiers â›·
It appeared that that ssw was pushed back.

SSW looks to be on track...delivering cold to the midwest and Eastern Canada/US. Ridge bridge may lock it in.
...This is a textbook +ENSO. A strong +ENSO signal. That Greenland block is not budging or going anywhere.

That timeframe is too early for the effects of the SSW to manifest in North America.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 10:58 am SSW looks to be on track...delivering cold to the midwest and Eastern Canada/US. Ridge bridge may lock it in.

Not saying you are wrong though (pesky Greenland block might screw us hard).
It always snows in December in the Kootenays

Move that block west and we can do alright. Need a GOA ridge to build as well though (which we haven't seen a lot of thus far unfortunately).

The reality is that the long range models are useless right now if in fact the SSW verifies. One can only hope the -ENSO/+QBO benefits us.

I think the fact that its a +Enso signal makes me dubious considering thats the opposite of our current ENSO.

Re: December 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
The EPS continues to show cool onshore flow in the medium to long range so I'm not too worried about some crazy mild ridging episode just yet.
