A week out and lots can change, Ive said it every year since we launched in 2008, if the long range is boring we have better odds generally.

Not according to the RGEM, which shows close to 80 mm of rain Monday.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 10:30 am Not much precip either with a north or south track due to the orientation of the trough. Just looks like cold light rain if that in the LM.
This will either an Island or Puget Sound event.

We are now getting into range on the 0,6,12, and 18Z HRRR. More info for people to agonize over. 12z had a good looking track for the east island
North end of Shawnigan Lake. Southern Vancouver island. 500ft

It often does but I have seen it close to if not spot on.
Regardless, split 80 mm in half and it's still a very wet day.

Maybe EC really knows best?
Or is John's predict "surfacing" at exactly the right time?

Massive Greenland block in place spells historic arctic blast for Eastern NA if this SSW occurs.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 11:31 am https://twitter.com/SimonLeeWx/status/1 ... 72289?s=19
Mid-late January arctic blast?
If we see a ridge build off the GOA then watch out....

That would be a real kick in the dick. But that seems way too far out to call.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 11:40 am Massive Greenland block in place spells historic arctic blast for Eastern NA if this SSW occurs.

Looks pretty close, exact track still undecided. Hopefully get something. Not a whole lot of cold air in the interior which doesn't help.

Re: December 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
On the topic of Sudden Strat warming events...haven't these been in the models since about December 1st? Not to say its not going to happen but until there's unanimous agreement we probably shouldn't be pinning our hopes on something on Jan 3rd on the GFS. Just trying to be realistic here.
