The mind is strong but the bladder is weak.

Snow depths were higher in Metro Vancouver in 2008. I'd probably give the edge to that winter. Not to take anything away from '96 though; 40-60cm over two days is nothing to scoff at.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 9:16 pm 96/97 was probably the best most recent winter. I'd even say better than 08/09 as the arctic air was much deeper. Colder and much higher snow depth. In fact, Abbotsford had a significantly higher snow depth in the Dec 96 event then the 08 one despite snow totals being slightly higher in 08. Just much higher snow ratios in 96 because it was so much colder.
Snow depths in 2008 were higher in Metro Van than the Fraser Valley though, at least Abbotsford. I believe the max depth at YXX in 2008 was 49 cm. In 1996, the max depth was 69 cm at YXX.
1996 was incredible, the snow was nearly 1m deep here but I found 2008 more enjoyable.
The stars are sure pretty, Bet you all wish you could see them?
My horses are nice and dry, standing outside under the stars.
That 69cm was all but gone in 3 days in 1996.
Valid point. So 2008/2009 wins in duration.
The snow in 2008 lasted much, much longer. Well into March. Whereas in 1996 it was pretty much gone by the middle of January.
I don't know, those measurements seem pretty iffy to me. How was there 1 cm on the ground for an entire week despite the temperature being above freezing for 95% of that time?
It does seem odd. Did you live there then?
