1998/1999 was the craziest. Baker recording over 26 meters of snow. A lot of it at the base didnt melt at all before the next winter.
We have a long way to go. Don't rejoice just yet.

Decorating the Christmas tree with some light snow falling outside. Just a trace so far but I’m excited. And the kids too

That's the best! Snow and Christmas just go hand in hand.

I put lights up on the inside of my windows while looking out at the pouring rain...

Port Mellon hit 19.6 at 5 am  I wonder if it went on holiday somewhere warm  https://weather.gc.ca/past_conditions/i ... tation=vom

La Niña winters as I recall as posted by the weather guys in Vancouver and Seattle both say we tend to end up with less snow than average years. Exception is the mountains do well with higher snow packs that last longer.

I’m all for rain this year until January. It can snow then. Don’t need to be busier clearing snow right now, ain’t nobody got time for that.

It is true, depending on the strength of the La Nina. Strong La Ninas, like 1988/89, gave us lots of cold air, and a few snow events, but with little amounts; <15 cm. Weaker, ENSO events, even weal El Ninos for some strange reason, give us a better chance of larger amounts of snow. Right now, this La Nina isn't looking as strong as forecast, and the equatorial SSTs are not consistent, but cooler relative to normal.

Looks like the SSTs offshore should be colder to get more snow. Looks almost like a blob forming.

Less snow in La Niña? :? Not sure the numbers support that 2007-2008, 2008-2009, and 2016-17 say hold my beer! Though I do agree weak El Niño years tend to be some of the most dynamic winters. It’s the moderate and strong Ninos that really drag down our snowfall averages.
