We need the EPO to be negative as well. That's what amplifies the GOA ridge.

-AO = High latitude blocking. Increases the chances of arctic blasts into the midlatitudes.

An extreme example of -PNA/-NAO/-EPO/-AO is January 1969. A month we all know pretty well...

Yes that fn Blobby guy has been pretty persistent last 3 years or so..maybe they are related? Maybe the blob is actually got a noose around Ninas neck and is choking her out, so she is hiding away from the warm ocean and parking her butt in AK instead until the sea temps cool. Maybe one day. Yes let's all move to Similkameen..trust me. Even Nito would like the -25c nights and 50 days of snow per year.

I was just about to post that. Ridge in the North Pacific, SE ridge, but that sucker over Alaska just keeps churning.

Just need that ridge to amplify a bit more and we could see sunny and dry weather with a slight easterly surface flow.

All bets are that this 7-10 wet spell will be followed by a dry spell. Will it be a chilly and dry one? Or will it be a fogversion? Stay tuned!

I still think that the SSTs are killing it for us. If the NPac was blue instead of red..we'd be good. NPac being warm never seems to help us get cold and snowy.

Yes seems to be the pattern we are in. Better than mild and wet I guess.
