It's really pointless because it hardly ever confirms. Maybe this time the models will collapse in our favour and instead of showing persistent ridging we will get a cold blast that shows up somewhat unexpectedly. Just like some rug pulls of the past where it was supposed to get cold and snowy and we ended up getting screwed
Honestly yes but with so little else going on other than work its just one of the ways I and probably others are keeping entertained. But you are right. However speaking for myself I'm still pretty new to weather so I'm nerding out on lots of different models and its a chance to learn a bit more. Although my interest in a cold snap is sky high, the technical side of things is becoming more interesting. A couple years ago I basically only read the surface maps because I didn't have much of a clue how to read upper level maps, understand teleconnections, etc.

So what should we do ? Just not talk about anything until the models show cold within the 3 day timeframe? It's a weather forum.. This is what you do on a forum and all of us here are very smart and level headed. We are not like the other forum. If we didn't look at the models what would be a point of a forum? We discuss and look for trends.

It's no different then having a sports forum and during the off-season discussing trades and moves your favorite team can make/made and prospects. But for most of us Winter is our season and Summer is our off season.

He does this like seven times a year telling us not to look at the models, Don't worry about it.

The melt is on for the local ski hills. Mostly above freezing with precip over the next 10 days. Does freeze after systems depart but this is not a good time to go up there unless you want to destroy your board.

Cool. Learning is always a good thing. Especially in a topic we all have a passion for

Bad enough we are getting bommy weather in the lowlands.
Hopefully the LR brings us some presents
