Re: December 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
-2.2˚C and clear as a bell here, +7 on Sumas Mountain. Been looking at the regional roundups, and not many stations are reporting fog. Some are, but they are a distinct minority, and it is often thin enough that the sky is visible through it. This is not shaping up to be one of those foggy “fake cold†inversion scenarios.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Re: December 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Noticed the latest PNA numbers going to a neutral or weak negative territory. Cold building up in AK/Yukon. Unfortunate in that I would have preferred a longer spell of amplified ridging over the West Coast.
Looks like a weaker semi-permanent ridge between 125-130W over the next 2 weeks with weak troughs brushing over the West Coast.
Winter is initializing. Could see this take full effect in early-mid Jan.

Re: December 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
This is actually not good. Well, good in the sense that we stay dry and cool but most of the cold dumps into the Praries and gets locked into the Midwest and East with a Greenland block and rising heights over 130W into AK and the Yukon.

We can do well with west based -NAO blocks coupled with -PNA/-EPO. Only thing lacking right now is a SE ridge which will surely pop up at some point.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 11:00 am This is actually not good. This is the winter we finally break the January curse. I'm going all in. Heavy low elevation snows and at least one top tier arctic blast.
