Re: November 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
It's a shame they let Russ go. He's skilled, awesome, and knows his stuff. I loved his "two mets on the mic" podcast. How does a company even consider letting a guy like that go? What a joke.Hound wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 8:01 pm Unfortunately wetcoast nailed it.
As a former employee in broadcasting, I'd say it's one of the worst businesses to ever get involved in. They don't care one bit about you, and as soon as you start making good money like Russ was probably making, you get sent to the chopping block. And ya, they rather hire fake weather people who look good, but don't actually have an education. These mega media corps are all in bed with each other and conspire to keep rates high, and all of us paying more for every type of media service whether it's TV, Radio, Phone or Internet. They will cut anyone's throat to save pennies and make shareholders happy. The will eventually run all radio and TV on total automation, at least that is their plan. Local coverage will be gone and news/weather will be delivered out of one central location. It is terrible that this is happening but the CRTC keeps letting it go on, mostly because the chair is made up of former telecom ceo's etc. It's one hell of a mess and a scam on the public.
I wish him all the best and I have no doubts he will quickly find another job in meteorology broadcasting.

Re: November 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Models continue to present minimal to weak blocking with a strong developing PV. May not see any cold until we see SSW in the poles...
Personally think we are stuck in this W-WSW flow for a while. Chilly enough for periodic mountain snows. We will probably see a impressive streak of days with measurable precip.

I keep thinking it's either Sardis or John screwing with all of us.

Can't be Hawk not enough 'smilies'
I really enjoyed Russ Lacate's forecasts, hopefully he'll be doing them again soon, somewhere.

I agree, not even a hint of blocking. Still holding out hope for a holiday surprise. This year needs to end with something good...wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 8:26 pm Models continue to present minimal to weak blocking with a strong developing PV. Re: November 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
With the way CoVid is going it doesn't look good for travelling to winter in the north. Hopefully we get a winter surprise at Christmas.
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!

Re: November 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Nothing too interesting in the latest weeklies. This is the only below normal period (temps) being shown.
