There was enough uncertainty, I guess they erred on the side of caution.

Bell and Rogers are racing to the bottom. There will be less broadcasters and live news feeds.

Job cuts. They usually start with the highest pay employees. I am sure he will bounce back. Also Rogers has to pay for the ridiculous contract they signed for the NHL broadcasting right. What a morons.Weather101 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 5:36 pm Did he maybe quit ? Or maybe a money issue ? He's amazing so this is weird.
It will be great if Global hire him.

Re: November 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Look at the recent trends.
Global has Mark Madryga but they also have Kristie Gordon, Yvonne Schalle, Kasia Bodurka
CTV has Ann Luu and Krissy Van. Ann Luu replaced Michael Kuss.

How many of them are meteorologists? Half of them suck, if not all of them besides Mark Madryga.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 6:54 pm Look at the recent trends.

Re: November 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Unfortunately wetcoast nailed it.
As a former employee in broadcasting, I'd say it's one of the worst businesses to ever get involved in. They don't care one bit about you, and as soon as you start making good money like Russ was probably making, you get sent to the chopping block. And ya, they rather hire fake weather people who look good, but don't actually have an education. These mega media corps are all in bed with each other and conspire to keep rates high, and all of us paying more for every type of media service whether it's TV, Radio, Phone or Internet. They will cut anyone's throat to save pennies and make shareholders happy. The will eventually run all radio and TV on total automation, at least that is their plan. Local coverage will be gone and news/weather will be delivered out of one central location. It is terrible that this is happening but the CRTC keeps letting it go on, mostly because the chair is made up of former telecom ceo's etc. It's one hell of a mess and a scam on the public.

As for the storm today, I felt for the most part it under delivered on land. It was short and sweet but not much really happened.
