Very strong winds aloft. Gradients rather impressive yet that hasn't translated into strong sustained winds at the surface.

Leaves have hardly moved all morning in Sardis. Big old
Vedder mountain is a pretty good blocker with winds from the SE

Orientation and trajectory of the low plus a broadened pressure field. Development of secondary low on the occluded front played a role in that.

West Vancouver is often the least windy place in BC today is no exception. Least windy place in BC with enough wind to register...

The trajectory of the system wasn't great for us, there were no strong pressure rises in the wake of the cold front, plus the parent low was just too far away.
