Suppressed jet signature showing up on that map.
Get those drier than normal anomalies a touch further south and it'll be a similar pattern to '16-17.

The 16/17 pattern would have been extra special had it featured at least one legit arctic blast. Rather, we just saw non-stop backdoor events with marginal snows. Certainly a solid winter but I wish we had seen at least one true arctic front.
