Windy with the frontal passage this evening. Pretty widespread power outages across Vancouver Island. Nothing major but it is affecting pockets all across the island
North end of Shawnigan Lake. Southern Vancouver island. 500ft

We had a gust of wind that you could hear coming, like a full train. The sky was lit up with branches snapping power lines.

We had some big gusts and squally wind driven downpours around 7pm. My 3 year old and I had a blast running around in the storm taking cover in the garage during the biggest gusts. Nothing as dramatic down here as what you saw

Typical Nina pattern finally taking shape with cool NW flow on the mid and long range GFS.

00z ensembles look good for building the early season snowpack.

Power was off here briefly this morning. Raining again and warm...it is strange to go outside and it is like summer, except for the part where it is dark at 4:30.
