Maybe it didn't bother you but I for one like having a place on the internet that isn't a trolling ground and I definitely wasn't alone.
But imprtant to note, nobody told him to leave. He had a temper tantrum.
John may have been inarticulate and blunt, but that doesn’t negate a valid bone of contention: the disparity in income & benefits between the public sector and private sector. And I say this as the husband of a school counsellor. When we were dating we had some honest conversations about this. There’s a big difference between defined benefit plans vs. defined contribution plans, paid sick days vs. employers who just can’t afford it, job security vs. at the mercy of the ebb and flow of the economy, guaranteed pay increases vs. when the employer can afford it. Yeah, teachers deal with crap & stress at their jobs, but who doesn’t?

As for misinformation about COVID, I don’t know what John said. However, whenever I hear politicians and others say, “We follow the science,” that comes across as a hammer to fall in line. Whether it’s climatology or virology, it’s healthy to have contentious, competing views. That’s science. Few things should be settled. GFS or the EURO: not settled. We know what COVID-19 looks like: settled science. How we should go about our lives with COVID-19: not settled, despite an incurious media asking softball questions to the various layers in government.

Sorry, I digress. Bring on the mountain snow and a well-placed block in the Pacific.

I mean, sure thing but the only way this particular thread functions is by staying somewhat on topic about local weather. I invited him a bunch of times to go say his piece about this stuff in the politics thread, the climate thread, whatever. His intention wasn't to further debate on topics, it was quite clearly to piss off liberal millenial snowflakes in a weather forum. In that sense, the accuracy of his posts is irrelevant. There is a place for that and its called Twitter.

Initial shot of cold air is a classic northern BC based arctic blast. Too bad it's 9-10 days away.

solid but unspectacular I would say? That's fine, we want the real deal in winter. This is nice to look at though.

Very little precedent for legit arctic outbreaks before Remembrance Day and they are pretty rare before the last 1/2 or even 1/3 of November. 1955 is the standout exception.

Mark Madriga said this morning that the cold is coming and possible snow next weekend, obviously too far out to be certain. Stay toned!

Typeing3 wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 9:08 pm Any predictions for the winter months? Dec/Jan/Feb.

I'm thinking YVR picks up at least 50cm over the next few months.
ECMWF weeklies seem to suggest against broad amplified ridges in the "sweet spot" but suggest the PV splitting into Europe and North America. Transitory best describes the trend but we may also see more ridging over the next 6 weeks with with positive heights near the West Coast. I think it is a given that a La Nina regime brings the threat of winter by late Dec into Jan...
