John may have been inarticulate and blunt, but that doesn’t negate a valid bone of contention: the disparity in income & benefits between the public sector and private sector. And I say this as the husband of a school counsellor. When we were dating we had some honest conversations about this. There’s a big difference between defined benefit plans vs. defined contribution plans, paid sick days vs. employers who just can’t afford it, job security vs. at the mercy of the ebb and flow of the economy, guaranteed pay increases vs. when the employer can afford it. Yeah, teachers deal with crap & stress at their jobs, but who doesn’t?PortKells wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 9:55 pm He trashed teachers for no reason. Maybe it didn't bother you but I for one like having a place on the internet that isn't a trolling ground and I definitely wasn't alone.
But imprtant to note, nobody told him to leave. He had a temper tantrum.
As for misinformation about COVID, I don’t know what John said. However, whenever I hear politicians and others say, “We follow the science,†that comes across as a hammer to fall in line. Whether it’s climatology or virology, it’s healthy to have contentious, competing views. That’s science. Few things should be settled. GFS or the EURO: not settled. We know what COVID-19 looks like: settled science. How we should go about our lives with COVID-19: not settled, despite an incurious media asking softball questions to the various layers in government.
Sorry, I digress. Bring on the mountain snow and a well-placed block in the Pacific.
