Sure. We had 3” fall here with that, during the middle of the afternoon. Dropped to -4C that night. And Halloween night in 1984 saw 8-20” of snow across east Vancouver Island. So it can happen.

I see you waded into the blob debate down south. Good luck. Just remember Phil knows more than anyone ever and Jesse hates Cliff mass and his blob. The upper level ridging seems like a bit of a weak link in causing the extremely warm nights. Generally clear skies would produce seasonal if not cool nights this late in the year.

Only dropped to 7.3c, despite the relatively clear skies. Nights have been pretty warm this fall.

Yup. Started with heavy snow on the 16th and 17th and then nearly a week of sub zero temperatures. Abbotsford recorded a snow depth of 33cm on the 17th. Even with that early winter event, I don't think anybody would have imagined that it was just the appetizer for what would be known as the "Blizzard of 96" in December.

That was a valley special. Was pretty run of the mill towards YVR with snow depth peaking at 3cm for a couple days.

15cm fell over a week span but afternoon temps hovered around 1/2c so there was quite a bit of melt.

It was an okay event over here, especially for being so early, but the real cold and snow got hung up in the valley. There was a crippling snowstorm especially east of Abbotsford IIRC

There was much more just east of there. Chilliwack and Sardis Areas saw 50-100cm. I think it was actually a bigger storm than the December 96 one in those areas.

I think the Sardis station was 97cm (70 and 27cm?) over 2 days. I imagine a staled arctic boundary

Insane. That's right up there with the legendary valley snowstorms of 1965, 1954, 1943 or 1935.
