Those totals since 2008 are pitiful at best. What did they measure in 1996? I’m assuming those are all yearly totals and not seasonal totals?

I literally just did the calculation and was about to answer Monty's question. But hey, I came up with the exact same result: 130.4 cm. :D

Confession: I used a calculator.

Some decent cooling of the N pacific in recent days. Starting in northern Japan and pushing eastward. I remember something similar happened in 2016. A pretty dramatic cooling in the fall iirc.

Come on!

Yeah I remember that fall had a very strong zonal/SW Pacific jet. Neverending rain in Oct/Nov.

Can I just say, because someone has to, it's barely October. We're setting awfully lofty expectations based on tenuous analogues. Let's just hope for a -10 or two, and a couple feet of snow. Even that might be setting up for disappointment given this climate.

Good point VanCity. I'd be pretty happy about 2' of snow...maybe a few snow events too would be nice. Heck, I'd be happy with snow coming down and a couple of inches of accumulation more than once this winter.

Pondering about the winter and thinking about analogs has really very little impact on my enjoyment of the winter that will be. Just interesting to look at.
