ahhhh thanks for the update. That sucks, My lungs and allergies are having a tough time with this right now.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 5:27 pm Unfortunately, the marine air that will bring the cooling trend has been badly polluted by smoke from the fires in Oregon. Be prepared for a replay of 2017.

Do you have any risk factors?Weather101 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 4:02 pm The smoke really has been affecting my breathing.
Nice day today tho, A bit too hot but temps look to cool this weekend.
It was ok today but on Tuesday it was a bit smoky. Nothing like down south though.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays

Speaking of spiders, there seem to be more of those too. Can we get some rain and a damn cold winter to fix things?

I had a spider take up shop in here for about a week. I never saw it catch anything so I uh...killed it.moonshadow0825 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 7:18 pm tons, at least 3 different types like to come indoors with the good weather. keep hoping the spiders will feast

Send them to my place. I have no spiders here and I miss them.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Yikes...stay inside if you can tomorrow afternoon thru sunday afternoon. In 2017 and 2018 the persistent smoke was mostly upper air (300m+) stuff but it looks like this round will be bad even at the surface.

00z GFS 10 day precip totals. Looks like the low next week may remain offshore to our SW. Not much rain for us but some relief for Oregon at least as they desperately are in need of precip.

I was living on Bainbridge Island in 2017 and 2018 and I’m pretty sure it was in the 200’s at times. I remember visibilities of around a mile at the worst. If that map is correct it will stay under 200. Still pretty awful. Glad I have a HEPA filter. Wish I had an air conditioner.
At least we're not in the Willamette Valley. 500+… yikes.

Re: September 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
It's crazy hearing what's going on in the Willamette Valley. You'd never think fires of this magnitude would ever impact the area, but stuff like this has happened before, albeit very rarely(this is a one in 100 year event I believe?) .Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 10:23 pm I was living on Bainbridge Island in 2017 and 2018 and I’m pretty sure it was in the 200’s at times. Even more surprised at the massive fires along the Oregon costal range too.

Re: September 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Nothing unusual here in South Surrey/White Rock, but that reminds me of a few years ago in the summer traveling on the highway between Edmonton and Vermilion when suddenly I was driving through large swarms of moths for about a 2 kilometer stretch, must've killed a few hundred , and this happened during the day, never seen anything like it.Nimbus-cile wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 10:54 am Bit off topic, but has anyone noticed a ton of moths in the last week or so?
Not sure if it has to do with seasonality and I just have not noticed this in past late-summers or if this year is different due to weather conditions over the last few months during egg and larval stages. I guess they could also be on some sort of cycle and this would be a peak year.

Re: September 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
I saw one moth last night.
32.6C yesterday at YXX (old record 30.1C in 2007). For some reason it's showing up as missing on the EC page... the same thing happened when we broke the record on August 16th. It's like it causes something in their software to break.
On this day in 2013 it was 34.2C.
