Air quality in Bellingham is truly vile this afternoon. Was pretty good about 30 km to the east a bit earlier this afternoon, then I drove into the gunk on the way home.

Went for a bike ride around Bellingham at 4 PM Tuesday and I can confirm, you could feel the dryness and dirt in your mouth when pushing up hills.

Bit off topic, but has anyone noticed a ton of moths in the last week or so?

Not sure if it has to do with seasonality and I just have not noticed this in past late-summers or if this year is different due to weather conditions over the last few months during egg and larval stages. I guess they could also be on some sort of cycle and this would be a peak year.

I noticed a lot of infected trees in my neighborhood where the trees look to be dying and upon closer inspection they seem to be covered in small worms. I've not really seen this before in such a large scale. Surrey has been spraying the trees, so I'm not sure what is going on.

There's a looper moth outbreak. They are native to the area and outbreaks happen every decade or so. Surrey sprays for the Gypsy Moths.

Unfortunately, the marine air that will bring the cooling trend has been badly polluted by smoke from the fires in Oregon. Be prepared for a replay of 2017.

Yep...all those massive fires in Oregon have pumped a s*** ton of smoke over the ocean with the raging E winds over the last few days.

Onshore(W/SW) flow will direct all that smoke into the south coast tomorrow afternoon and Saturday.
