After the first few minutes I was predicting a 0-0 overtime , I guess I missed by 6 minutes. Too bad they couldn't complete the rope-a-dope hat trick, would've gone down in history as the best strategy ever for overcoming a 3-1 series deficit.
With another outstanding performance by Demko they definitely could've advanced if their powerplay did something, but they couldn't even gain the zone with the man advantage, let alone at even strength.

Rope-a-dope
Relating to or being a strategy in hockey in which one team defends, covers up and often leans back against the ropes to allow the opponent to shoot as many pucks as possible until exhaustion sets in so that the opponent cannot defend effectively late in the game and is thus defeated.

So far the Dallas Stars have had great success by taking the Canucks rope-a-dope playbook and just tweaking it a bit

Makes you wonder if the Canucks had gotten by Vegas if we might've just been able to compete with Dallas. Sigh..Of course, there would be no beating Tampa in the finals, but a finals run would've been so sweet.

Mission accomplished by Dallas , canucks should get an assist. Dallas scores series winning goal on powerplay, now why couldn't the Canucks do that? Oh ya , I forgot, they are the Canucks, aka Canuckelheads.

Starting to wonder if there will be a 20-21 season. Some of the owners are reportedly lacking in cash to pay the players bonuses. No gate revenue is a big deal. Just another sign that this whole house of cards is teetering. These supposed rich people should have planned for this kind of scenario.

Yes, because a 4th loss at the finals would be awesome. It's not embarrassing enough that the Canucks are the only team in the NHL that has made it to the finals more than once and never won the Cup, but that wasn't good enough, so they had to do it a 3rd time just for good measure in 2011. May as well embarrass themselves further with a 4th failed run... next year.

Looks like the Canucks will look very different for next season, whenever that might be, with the departure of Tanev,Stetcher,Markstrom,Toffoli, and so far the newcomers are Holtby and Schmidt, maybe Juolevi and Rathbone also make the team. Or maybe Benning will be able to take advantage of another teams cap crunch like getting Schmidt from Vegas but don't know exactly how when they are also in a cap crunch.

Schmidt is now a Canuck and all we had to give up was a 2022 3rd rounder. :D

While I'm getting ready to strap on the pads for hockey tonight I leave you with this fun FACT: Kirk McLean played 16 years in the NHL, including 11 with the Canucks. Only 26 goalies in NHL history played more seasons than that.

Only 4 goalies in NHL history played 20 or more years in the league. Bobby Lu is in the top 10 with 19 seasons. An asterisks means they are in the Hall of Fame.

Fun fact: Cory Schneider had a save percentage of 0.937 back in 2011/12, which ties him with Dominik Hasek's best year for 5th best save percentage ever recorded in the NHL.
