Vaguely remember the July 2006 heatwave. There were some pretty insane readings with that one... believe it nearly hit 100F at Pitt Meadows.

Could see some new fires sparked tomorrow in the interior with the lightning threat.

You guys do realize "humidex" values are exaggerated, right?
It always snows in December in the Kootenays

Re: July 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Personal weather stations in the Coquitlam area are already in the 30-32C range. Temps could overperform today...a few ~35C readings later on are not out of the question.

Overexposed.
Maximum in BC at noon was 'only' 31.9°C in Lytton.
27.6°C in Pitt Meadows...

Yup... although I prefer to use the humidex, it does tend to "exaggerate", whereas the "heat index" tends to underestimate the effect of humidity. I believe the humidex is slightly more accurate because it uses the dewpoint, as opposed to the heat index which uses relative humidity.
It's a subjective value, but the following chart pretty much sums up all you need to know...
Range of humidex: Scale of comfort:
20 to 29: Little to no discomfort
30 to 39: Some discomfort
40 to 45: Great discomfort; avoid exertion
Above 45: Dangerous; heat stroke quite possible
Fall/Winter 2023/24
Low min: -16.6C (Jan 12th)
Low max: -9.9C (Jan 12th)
Snowfall: 8.0 cm

Otherwise, humidex reach 50 in SW France today.

30.3°C in Pitt Meadows.
Max in BC 33.1°C in Warfield.
It's definitely not 32°C in Coquitlam/PoCo.

My thermometer broke so I've been using the closest personal weather station to me for my readings.Canada Goose wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 1:13 pm 30.3°C in Pitt Meadows.

Probably reads about 1C too high on clear days but overall it's pretty good.

850s of 24C this afternoon? That would only be ~2 - 3 degrees off of our big time heat events, IIRC. Little sea breeze and clear skies. 35 seems doable

Can't believe it's already been 11 years since the legendary July 2009 heatwave. Happened to be passing through Port Alberni on July 29th when it topped 40C.
