In Kelowna, and probably in most of the regions of the Interior, this is the coldest first decade of June since 2012.

Are we going to get a heat wave at the end of the month in the Valley? The 00z EPS gram shows whiskers touching 30C mark for Vancouver.

Re: June 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Summer starts June 19th? The three long range models have somewhat different solutions but there is consensus showing rising heights and finally a pattern change with perhaps an end to the cold low season!

In Kelowna, and probably in most of the regions of the Interior, this is the coldest first decade of June since 2012.
BTW, the coldest June temperature ever record in Kelowna was set on June 7th, 2002, when it was -1.3C!
Also, was this the coldest first 10 days of June since 2012? Well, using the daily lows at the Kelowna airport, 2020 is the coldest since 2014. In fact, 2020 is the 10th coldest on record (records began in 1969).
Coldest June 1 to 10 on record at Kelowna:
1) 4.24C in 2002
2) 4.61C in 1976
3) 5.45C in 1975
4) 5.48C in 1999
5) 5.72C in 1974
6) 5.82C in 1981
7) 5.96C in 1973
8) 6.07C in 1982
9) 6.21C in 2014
10) 6.63C in 2020
Using daily maximums, this is the 8th coldest June 1-10 on record...
1) 16.84C in 2012
2) 18.19C in 1990
3) 18.24C in 1984
4) 18.45C in 1988
5) 18.86C in 2008
6) 19.24C in 1981
7) 19.31C in 1980
8) 19.67C in 2020
9) 19.81C in 1999
10) 20.19C in 2010

Wonder how that happened.

Re: June 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
It rained HARD here. Like just after they cancelled the Thunderstorm warning, the lightning started, and it rained at a rate of 110 mm/hour at my place for a few minutes before backing off. Still, it was a lot of rain with some epic washouts across some of the roads.
12mm total this evening.
Oh, and it just started raining again as I'm typing.

Re: June 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Hopefully not, We don’t need a heatwave for it to be summer, it’s just so not enjoyable dying in the heat feeling like crap and sweaty. On top of that it’s horrible to sleep because it’s too hot.stuffradio wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 8:10 am Are we going to get a heat wave at the end of the month in the Valley?
