May 2020 Forecasts and Discussion
We're 5 months into the year. 3 months until Christmas appears on store shelves! My son is 3 months old in a couple weeks! Time is flying.

Re: May 2020 Forecasts and Discussion
Wow!
Record April snowpack could bring major flooding to BC including the Fraser Valley. The article mentions the 1948 Fraser flood, but I don't see that happening. The river dikes have been significantly improved since then as far as I know, so the chances of them failing like they did back in 1948 seems slim to none. But significant flooding is still a possibility. If it does occur, hopefully the social distancing restrictions are lifted.

Re: May 2020 Forecasts and Discussion
Thanks for the link. I noticed that the story was from April 17th. They said the worst thing that could happen is a period of cool weather followed by a sustained period of hot weather. And sure enough that is exactly what's happening, barring the ridging falling apart in the mid range, which never seems to happen with ridging.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 12:03 am Wow!

Re: May 2020 Forecasts and Discussion
Fresh snow on the mountains out here in Chilliwack. 23.5mm of rain since midnight last night to me it looked liked the rain was stationary over the central valley.PortKells wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 9:27 am Thanks for the link. Re: May 2020 Forecasts and Discussion
I thought April has been warmer than normal? Perhaps down in the valley and at sea level but not in the upper levels?PortKells wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 9:27 am Thanks for the link. Re: May 2020 Forecasts and Discussion
I'd say it has been, but since that story came out I think its been a lot cooler with episodes of rain and cloudiness. I figured that ridgy period would have reduced the snowpack but I guess the days weren't that warm and the nights were cool enough to retain it. We'll get another snowpack update on May 7th or so. Hope things don't get too bad. Flooding sucks.

It was a nice, windy day in Squamish today.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays
