Awesome this is like a scavenger hunt. Any chance of finding Gumpers official Coca Cola mercury thermometer and check if its regulation 48 inches above ground level on the northside of a barn door. Or is that Ms. Creekers on the north side of the chicken coup.
It's the 7th annual 2 old retired geezer's inaccurate snowfall contest

I was a little slow with the other Creston closed in 2017 because Google updated the maps in 2019.Canada Goose wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 7:05 pm Nice catch!
I found it but never saw it on Google Street!
It's real shame to see the station close because it had been around since 1911 (one of the oldest stations in the province).
Does it seem odd to anyone else how many stations closed in 2017?
BTW, my friend's family has been operating the Vavenby station 1913, but no one wants to take over the ranch, so it might go up for sale, which could end the weather station. That's what happened in 2013 with the longest running weather station on the central coast: Stuie Tweedsmuir Lodge. It was sold and the new owners wanted nothing to do with the then 80 year old weather station.

Photos taken today.Canada Goose wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 3:10 pm Maybe the station still exists but nobody operates it...
One day I will go there to check.
The weather screen is in really bad shape. No one seems to operate the station (closed in Feb. 2018).

Re: Weather Stations In BC (Photos)
Nice! I guess the reason for the warm nights is the fact it's at the top of a hill.

Re: Weather Stations In BC (Photos)
Absolutely. Actually, no extreme temperatures (in general) with this station: its location at the top of a hill prevents hot weather and extreme cold.
Though, last January was interesting... https://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_d ... &Year=2020

Re: Weather Stations In BC (Photos)
Yes but given its location on the top of the hill, I think it doesn't have any impact on temperature readings.
