Farmer'a Almanac is giving Southern BC slightly cool and drier for Feb -April then warmer and wetter for May to July but not sure if I'm buying their forecast this year when they had slightly cooler and normal precip for January

Phil has already cancelled next winter.
Safe to say this winter was more El Niño-ish than not, however. Weak Walker Cell/high AAM/WWB train.

As for next winter, I suspect a strong niña under -QBO would probably go the route of 2007/08. Very difficult to amplify the NPAC High with that type of background state.

Maybe that’s the new multiyear background state after all? Just raging +EPO/zonal flow? Opposite of 2013-18 would be strangely fitting. Would be terrible news for Tim, but sucky for lovers of cold, continental air as well. 😕
