diagram_40days_forecast_GEFS_member.gif
Sure I can do that! For this MJO forecast, you always start with the previous month. We're in January right now, so we're looking at the phase in DJF. Here's a link.

Phases 1 through 4 show at least lots or some below normal temps for extreme NW WA. Phase 5 is a bit warmer, and phase 6/7 goes back to colder.

GEM looks like it might be going somewhere good after 240 hours, but can not see beyond that. We'll see what the ensembles show.

Awesome photos Rubus_Leucodermis!
Thanks for sharing!

It's pretty darn windy outside now. The windiest it's been in quite some time. Sure cleared out all the low level fog nice.

Temps starting to drop now too.

Looks better at day 7. But will it actually kick the vortex out of Alaska. That is the key. IMO

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

A strong Pacific storm is on the way for Thursday afternoon and Friday for the BC coast.

The storm will approach the coast on Thursday. Precipitation will spread onto the south coast by midday Thursday. The rain may be briefly mixed with wet snow Thursday afternoon. It will then intensify Thursday evening and persist through Friday. During that period, we expect 60 to 90 mm of rain to fall over
Howe Sound and Metro Vancouver - central and North Shore. It will eventually diminish in intensity Friday night but light rain or showers will continue into Saturday.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

Euro continues with lower heights in Alaska. Not a good teleconnection to arctic air.

Looks like I will be getting a 25cm dump of snow Friday in Vanderhoof. Hopefully it will be enough snow for the local ski hill to open.
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!
