Re: January 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
For what it's worth, the GFS has been fairly consistent since yesterday's 06Z.
I recall someone said the GFS led the way leading up to the December 2008 blast, though it of course had not been upgraded at that time.

Over what years are those averages taken?
Also, saw this from NWS in Seattle. Would expect some of these “normals†to increase a bit.

Gorgeous day outside . Doing some work on the sledding hill, in the seemingly tiny chance we can actually use it.

I've never been able to figure out how those "normals" on the EC pages are calculated... but if you look in the section below you can see the average high and low for the date...
For Abbotsford:
Average high 5.3°C
Average low -0.8°C
This seems fairly accurate to me.
I fear we may not be getting an updated normals because a lot of the EC stations that were used to calculate the normals no longer exist (replaced by Nav Can stations which are considered different station for data purposes).

Re: January 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Progressive pattern was always in the cards. This would bring varying weather such as heavy rain, dry and warm conditions and fringe lowland snow chances.
Those fools keep searching for arctic outbreaks which arent in the cards

Re: January 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
He's upset because people aren't buying into his January 1969 thoughts just yet. Of course anything is possible but to start shouting January 1969 is quite silly at this point, unless of course you enjoy major disappointment. It is rather odd that he thinks everyone is crazy for not buying into the GFS runs just yet.
