Its true that models don't look as promising for us as they once did (though they still look decent.) I just think its crazy that Nito is so boldly confident in the east going into an ice box. I have not heard any other meteorologist say such a thing. Most seem concerned with the strong -PNA signal. I think Nito just likes to have fun with us.

FWIW. The modelled pattern reminds me a bit of December 2012. -PNA, cold Alaska, de amplified Aleutian ridge, warm and fairly ridgy out east. No blocking to the north and we never tapped into the arctic air.
