This part was interesting: "Religion is often used to mask secular or economic goals."

Thus is the issue. Religion is USED. It is a tool of the elite, to drive people to do what they want. Look at Trump. People think he's a christian? The dude is a poster child for every single thing that Jesus preached against. But somehow, he's got a large majority of the christian population down there eating out of his hands.

Bibi, I don't know. I think the guy might actually believe that hard in the zionist cause. I suspect he ignored intel on Oct 7 so he could have cause to wage this existential war with more support.

Then you have the Ayatollah and such extreme Islamists just brutal as well, not sure how much they believe in what they preach vs use it to control their people. Would've been nice to just keep the Shah, eh America?

Regardless, if we could rid ourselves of the religious aspect we could remove a lot of the barriers between cultures and societies, and take a massive tool out of the hands of the elites that are driving us off a cliff right now. But that will never happen because once indoctrination has occurred, it's nearly impossible to undo. I wish religious indoctrination was made illegal.

Also, the oil shock hasn't even hit yet guys. It's about to get so, so much worse here, like it's gotten in most other places. 2022 will look like child's play. 2020 economically will be comparable, when everything ground to a complete halt.

On that note...Work. From. ****ing. Home.

Forcing people to drive into offices when it's not needed was always incredibly stupid. It will be that much more catastrophic here if we don't immediately shift back to WFH.

Stock up on stuff before the rush. Got propane for our cooking, just got pet food, now I'm thinking medications and other essentials.

I hope it's only a recession. Stagflation would be the word I would expect to be using.

We've become completely reliant on a tiny body of water adjacent to religious nutjobs (that the USA is responsible for putting there of course). The fact that he went in and kicked that hornet's nest is perhaps the dumbest thing that's happened in world history.

Definitely l was shocked when hearing of the attack on February 28th. But hearing a sitting president come out last Easter weekend with the F word etc. was absolutely insane.

Imagine Obama had done any of these things? Like say Praise be Allah on Easter (said it again today).

I don't necessarily agree. We are now seeing the effects of climate change clear as day. These taxes don't even come close to reflecting the true cost of gas. Too bad electric vehicles weren't pushed a lot harder by both public and private back in the day.

But I keep coming back to work from home. That would be a massive, massive boost to the economy and eff over the oil companies as a bonus.

Yeah, it's the Federal Excise Tax and it applies to the entire country, but it's only 10 cents a liter so don't expect much difference. Gas prices fluctuate by 30 cents a week anyway.
