I just don't see how we can get low elevation snows without at least residue modified arctic air. But Tyler Hamilton recently said we can in fact get sea level snow without arctic air. If this is true, it may be our only chance of snow this winter.

Really marginal airmass but convective energy can bring snow levels down to SL.
Only thing is that models are splitting the energy with most precip going into California.

Details that can not be worked out with any precision this far in advance. But models don't look promising.

Don't need arctic air for snow especially for places higher up

We could easily get sea level snow with a maritime polar air mass, but we haven't seen many of those in recent years, and the ones we do get nowadays tend to be warmer than historically.

Pretty warm into January. I hope this changes. I also see the Nito ensemble run showed up again. Where are the John ensemble members?
