It's amazing how mild the West Kootenays are! Their extreme record low is barely colder than the Fraser Valley record!

The late Jan/early Feb 1893 cold snap was the most anomalous on record for locales that did have data back then. Too bad it's so spotty.
It's the closest cold season equivalent to the June 2021 heat wave, imo. January 1862 is probably a better match (unofficial reading of -27c in New Westminster).
