I would also say there's a lot more detail - terrain bleed snow tends to just be one line down from the northwest to the southeast. There's probably some bleed in this but I think it's a lot more than that.
Yes, temps do appear that they would be supportive of some type of white stuff... sloppy, wet, more dry than wet depending on elevation, rain in New Westminster.... etc....

My rule of thumb is that the maps that show little or no snow falling over the Strait due west of Vancouver are mostly terrain bleed.

Christmas Day could indeed be snowy for anyone with some elevation and distance from the coast. Like you!

This is Christmas Day at 1000 local.

I would say yes, you are probably right there is some terrain bleed involved. But, that does not necessarily mean it extends or applies to all areas equally.

Btw, anyone notice how much snow the last couple of GFS runs spit out for the mountains?

This setup is where I have one regret about moving to Ladner!

We'll probably just see plain cold rain. :raindrip:

No, of course not. Higher areas will get the amounts forecast, because they are terrain and not bleed.

There is some snow shown over the Strait. Quite a bit over some of the Gulf Islands. Doubt it will be that much.

If the lowlands get so much as 10–20 cm in that setup, they will be doing very well. Even 5 cm sounds optimistic to me.

I will be in the barren arctic while SW BC gets dumped on. Vanderhoof and Prince George have little to no snow right now but 20 cm is supposed to fall and that's about it. -20c or colder for my entire stay.
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!
