I don't like Carney, but every last one of us will use legal loop holes to not pay tax. It's why I said that attacked on Trump for "not paying taxes" some years were totally stupid and ignorant. Nothing was done illegally. If you don't like it, advocate changing the laws. But you can't fault someone for paying the lowest amount of tax. Surely we all use every deduction we can to save money on taxes.

I had CKNW turned on at a random time last night when I went driving and it was the Ben Mulroney show. I don't know anything about him politically but I assume he's right leaning? Anyway, he re-iterated that he heard about unions supporting Pollievre and also about the day care program being worse under the Liberals policies because there were 120,000 fewer spaces. Does anyone have any thoughts on the Liberal daycare policy creating fewer spaces and if there is any constructive discussion about the program and how to improve it?

Daycare is provincial jurisdiction. The feds put money out there, but when you have the price at $10/day it created chaos. My next door neighbor works in a daycare. She said they got the $10/day thing at theirs which put another daycare out of business that didn't get accepted, and that other day care was run by a non-profit. With lower fees there's more demand for daycare spaces, so the wait times are even longer than before.

Ben Mulroney is the son of Brian Mulroney, BTW. Both Ben and Justin grew up at 24 Sussex drive.

So he's Liberal leaning? Do you have any ideas about the daycare policies?

He's a conservative, like his father Brian... I have no idea what their policies are on daycare. The current government's policies was basically thrown out there to keep Jagmeet happy. I don't think they cared about if it worked or not, only that Singh didn't vote the government down.

Unless something similar happens like what did in 1993 (when Km Campbell was way out in front only to end up with just 2 seats), the Conservatives are cooked.

Canada Electoral Model Update (March 26)

🔴LIB: 204 seats (+7)
🔵CON: 116 seats (-3)
🔷BQ: 20 seats (-4)
🟠NDP: 2 seats (-)
🟢GRN: 1 seat (-)

🔴Liberal Majority Government. At this point it's a massive blowout. NDP ends up with just 2 season, one in Edmonton and one in Winnipeg.

(NOTE: this is not me wanting the Liberals to win (I don't), it's me just reporting the data)

Great speech! She echoes my frustration with everything that's going on. While I don't support Trump's unjustified attacks on our country and he is a lot worse than I initially thought, the response from the left during this trade war is absolutely ridiculous. The fact that they are so unwilling to acknowledge that the Liberals are responsible for the economic mess we are in is patently ignorant. It seems to me that they are just using the current trade war as another excuse to go after Trump. Remember, the left has always hated him. The current events are just giving them more fuel to go against him. But simply going after him while ignoring our own economic disaster and then supporting the very government responsible for our economic disaster is utterly insane. Think about it. Doug Ford put a surcharge on the energy of 1.5 million Americans and threatened to completely shut off their power. Trump responds with a 50% counter tariff on our steel and aluminum. Ford immediately backs down. We aren't going to win this trade war by merely standing up to Trump with retaliatory tariffs. But if we are going to take that approach, why in the world would we nominate Carney given the fact that Trump views the Liberals as weak? It makes absolutely no sense and that's what Danielle Smith's point has been all along. We are only further damaging our economy by imposing ineffective counter tariffs and then reelecting a proven fiscally irresponsible government. Unfortunately, for some bizarre reason her common sense approach seems to be hurting Poilievre's campaign. She's invited to speak at an American event with a popular right wing host and plans to go and stand up for Canada but then Canadians criticize her for it. Again, I'm fully against Trump's unprovoked attacks. But this idea that anyone who conducts interviews with his supporters should automatically be viewed as a traitor is hysterical.

This is very very interesting. The game plan: distraction, deception, win election, and then fold like a cheap tent.

Did Carney say that our relationship with our biggest trading partner is over?
This guy gets visibly upset, makes good points.

It sounded to me like he was just repeating what was already obvious to most of us.
“The old relationship we had with the United States based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation is over."

"It’s clear the US is no longer a reliable partner. It is possible that with comprehensive negotiations, we could reestablish an element of confidence but there will be no going backwards..."
In other words:

- our deep integration with the US has become a liability rather than an asset
- we can longer count on the US military to provide security to Canada
- the US is not a reliable trading partner under Trump
- it's possible that ongoing negotiations could restore some confidence, but things will never be like they were before

All of this should be obvious to anyone who has been paying attention.

The linked video is reading way too much into things.

Trump said he had a productive call and he called Mark Carney Prime Minister instead of governor

Latest projection map... Liberals are ahead but a little bit, but not enough to form a majority. Singh gets zero seats.
