Does anyone have statistics on that? Both when a warning fails and when they don't get the warning up before it snows.

Hound, master of the smilies, do you have a Game Over one?

I'll never forget that one event in late Jan 2008.

Was sunny and relatively mild downtown while the eastern suburbs got pummeled with up to 20cm in just a few hours. Completely unexpected.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

Fraser Valley - central including Chilliwack
Fraser Valley - east including Hope
Fraser Valley - west including Abbotsford
Snowfall with total amounts of 5 to 10 cm is expected.

5 to 10 cm of snow is expected for Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and the Sunshine Coast on Friday.

A frontal system will bring snow to the South Coast on Friday. The snow will begin early Friday morning and could be mixed with rain at times. The snow will intensify in the morning before tapering off in the afternoon. Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are expected by Friday evening.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
