It is a picture of happiness that will likely accompany her if she was being interviewed about being awarded TIME person of the year...you are reading my post so negatively..wow. Dont be so negative! Context is difficult to read online. Ur 32 you shud know that.
Ok hawk. I just think the excessive posting of her is a passive aggressive sort of way of infusing the climate debate into the forum despite the fact we mostly agreed to keep that topic separate. Its become borderline trolling. But if your post wasn't that then I sincerely apologize. Context certainly is hard to convey online and online literacy is an ongoing lesson for everyone that's for sure.

In regards to John's response her being a kid without life experience. Why does that matter? This issue transcends generations. The conversation should be a lot more civil from both sides. And shes sailing to make a point, not live her dream. She is trying to lead by example. Shes definitely not perfect but shes 16 and who is?

Greta knows nothing about what it’s like to have a hard life nobody has stolen her childhood she has sailed across the ocean any 16-year-old dream. I don’t think anyone on here doesn’t believe in global warming it’s pretty obviously happening but don’t need to be told by a kid who has no life experience or hardships to tell us we are bad
I fully agree. Nobody denies climate change. The alarmists often claim that anyone who denies alarmism denies that the climate is changing. Such a statement is ridiculous. Nobody denies that the climate is changing. What some people, including myself, deny is that the climate changing is a crisis and emergency that requires man to fight through taxing carbon and destroying the economy.

As for Gretta, this issue is that she is still a minor, has very little life experience, zero scientific understanding of the climate, and yet is being used by adults who have political agenda. Anyone could do what she does. She is no one special. She just repeats the one sided view of climate change alarmism pushed by the radical left and media. Yet, she is being exalted almost like a prophet for some man made religious cult that labels you either a believer or denier or a prophet or heretic. The climate change agenda is all about power and control based on fear and the adults in Gretta's life are just reinforcing her unnecessary fear. Its disturbing and disgusting to say the least.

I feel really sad for her because there are people who are against the climate change alarmism who make fun of her, which isn't fair because its not her fault. She is being used by those in power to push an agenda. Its awful and needs to stop. But again its not her fault.

I agree.

She's still a minor. She's not a scientist. But, neither are the politicians who have refused to take this crisis seriously. Neither are the fossil fuel industry executives who knew about the problem (from their own R&D departments) and covered it up. If the world were dominated by scientific evidence and rational thought, humanity wouldn't be on the road to plunging itself into a global crisis that it now is.

At this stage, I'll support any tactic that works to help prompt action. Screw the lofty standards; they don't actually exist in this world, anyhow.

Really any tactic?

Are you willing to destroy economy?

Are you willing to go to war for this?

Valid point. I should have said "any necessary tactic."

Edit: or maybe any reasonable tactic. Publicity stunts (and to be honest, that's much of what Greta is doing) are a time-honored tradition in the propaganda (something all political camps make) business.
