Take a look at the SOI the past couple weeks. Although this El Nino was a dud (fortunately), I'll stick my neck out and say that next Jan-Mar looks to be awful. There's going to be a lot of warm water downwelling and migrating east when the SOI is consistently that deeply negative. Watch for the 3.4 index to spike in a couple months. Next winter's El Nino appears to be off to a strong start--yuk.

It felt colder yesterday and last night, no cloud cover. I think this could be our last winter hurrah? The days are getting longer and there seems to be tons of birds out there ready for Spring!
